Toktumi Reviews

Toktumi is a virtual phone service that was established in 2006 in San Francisco. It is one of the most affordable, full-featured virtual home office phone services available to help small business and entrepreneurs remain flexible while projecting a professional image. Toktumi is distributed nationally by Dell and Staples.com.

Toktumi delivers more features and greater value for less money than any other virtual office phone system on the market today. Toktumi is a reliable virtual phone service with low rates and tons of features. It is highly recommended for users who want a simple, reliable phone service without paying a higher price.

Review of Toktumi Phone Service

The Toktumi PBX phone service uses your computer’s broadband connection to make telephone calls. The calls are made over your computer, but the quality is not compromised at all. In fact, the call quality might even be better than that of a regular phone call.

If you own a small business, then the Toktumi phone service might be just right for you. They specialize in providing small businesses with phone numbers and providing calls at a low rate throughout North America. For additional rates, it may also be possible to set up the ability to make international phone calls.

Toktumi, unlike other similar providers, does not charge for installation or have upfront costs for use. Instead you pay just under fifteen dollars a month. This monthly cost covers a wide range of features. These useful features include:

800 Number

Though you do not have to use an 800 number, it is possible to use an 800 number that Tokumi has available in their database. An 800 number gives a business a certain appearance of reliability and can help you grow your customer base by quite a bit.

Cell Number

It is possible to receive phone calls through Toktumi on your cell phone. Toktumi will assign your cell a different number from your personal one so that you are able to conduct business on your cell phone without worrying about losing privacy.

Virtual Assistant

Toktumi provides you with a virtual assistant who answers the phone based on whether the call is business or personal. The virtual assistant also lets you know who is calling as it screens the calls for you.

Conference Calling

It is also possible to have conference calls with twenty clients or co-workers over the Toktumi system. With Toktumi, you can even record some of the conference calls and use the recordings later as you need to.

Little Extras

When you use a computer-based phone service such as Toktumi there is no need to sacrifice the little conveniences. Caller ID, call forwarding, and even call waiting are available with Toktumi.

If you are considering using a PBX phone service, Toktumi is one of the best ones out there. They even offer a thirty day trial period in order to give potential customers the ability to use and understand the features before making a commitment to the product.

Toktumi is one of the best options for a small business that is looking for a low-cost, viable option for changing their phone system. Take advantage of their free trial period and see if the service is right for you and your business. If it’s not, you haven’t spent any money and just have to take a few minutes to cancel your Toktumi service.

Toktumi's recent "server upgrade" has contributed to degrading call quality. The conference call functionality just tanked yesterday for all 8 of my lines. I have had NO response from Customer Service 20 hours after logging a complaint via EMAIL because the new "LIVE SUPPORT" they touted didn't actually connect me with a person after 15 minutes of hold music.

This is an unacceptable way to treat business owners.

I can't comment much on the Toktumi phone service itself. I took advantage of the free trial and was very impressed. Impressed enough to request the transfer my business phone number to Toktumi. I have two problems with that though. 1) It's been over a month and the transfer is still not done. 2) The scariest thing of all is that customer service seems to be pretty much non-existent. I've contacted them several times to see what's taking so long, and I'm not getting a satisfactory answer. The only to contact them is either through a web chat or support ticket system, both of which take way too much time. There is no way to talk to an actual human being. Toktumi may be the best thing since sliced bread. But if something else goes wrong and I can't get adequate support, I'm not going to be a happy camper. If this thing still isn't working in the next few days, I'm going to cancel and go with a company that supports their customers. I guess you get what you pay for.

Here's the elevator pitch...you don't need a microwave oven. But now that you have it, do you want to go without it?

I have been customer of the Toktumi service since last July 2009. Well, actually, if you count the 30 day trial period, where you sign up, make a billion calls, test-drive the service in as many real world situations as possible, access the same full feature menu of offerings, receive the same professional tech support.....all this WITH OUT having to put down a credit card, ensuring that this is not a 'slam' service that strangles you with monthly payments you did not authorize...if your include that offering that no other reputable established organization even offers...I've been a customer since last June.

In that time. the service has never been off-line but for short periods at off-hours to ensure maintenance. Each feature of the systems works as advertised. Each time I have accessed my account online it has been smooth. Each time I have used the dialer program it has worked with no issues...NOT ONE. There was one issue were I could not access my account, and that was due to my own issues created on my end while migrating my system from one laptop to the next. And their tech support helped me just same.

Three times I have had the need to search for support. Their chat-room support, used as the first line of contact for issues, has been easy. I prefer it. While at my desk, and busy with issues, I was able to muti-task between chat-room and office issues. The traditional way is to call tech support and sit on hold and then sit while they do their stuff and all the while the customer waits. Not here. The services and resolutions were perfect.

I don't know if this is a supported feature, but I have successfully run the dialer program from my portable app USB drive. I have been able to hit any computer and fire up my portable desktop and make calls...with no issues. I'll take that "bonus feature".

The system has NEVER been offline when I needed it, kicked me off a call, suffered any issues with op systems or hardware, and the best part of this...the price has never gone up.

Honestly, if the system were to offer only half of what it does, at twice the price, it would still be an undervalued service.

You can't go wrong with this.

I've been using Toktumi service for about 8 months. It is incredible! I just recently downloaded the Line 2 app onto my ipod touch and ipad and now can make free cell phone calls using the Toktumi service! Toktumi will be launching a home base business opportunity in September 2010 to market this service.
